Bistrot Zinc a is charming French Bistro on North State Street in the Gold Coast.  We love French food in general, and bistro food in particular, and this place did not disappoint.  We felt like we were dining alfresco along a backstreet in Paris as we sat at the open windows and people watched throughout the meal.  The place just felt right, they even had a rack of hard-boiled eggs atop the bar!  For our meals, Tom had the French Onion Soup and the Croque Monsieur.  Some may think a Croque Monsieur is just a fancy grilled ham and cheese sandwich, but when done correctly, and this one was, it is a sublime mix of flavors and textures that not many other sandwiches can rival.  Theresa opted for the special of the day.  A beautifully sautéed sole with potatoes and caramelized onions.  We washed everything down with a nice Belgian beer for Tom and glass of White Burgundy for Theresa.  The service was excellent, the prices were ok, but the ambiance was great.  We definitely would recommend Bistrot Zinc.
